Our cattle are bred, born, and raised right here on our small family farm in the Upper Peninsula.  Our pasture-raised beef are finished on a mixture of pasture, hay, haylage, and silage produced in the U.P. that supplement their forage based diets. We take our beef animals to a local family-run U.P. butcher shop and have it turned into succulent meat products with fine marbling.

Shimp Ranch homegrown beef is locally produced using no hormone implants, no fed antibiotics using Beef Quality Assurance guidelines.

Our finished beef are butchered at 20-24 months of age, ensuring beautiful marbling throughout the tender meat.

We are U.P. Proud- we aim to produce all feed inputs (hay, haylage, silage, oatlage, and grains) locally in the U.P., only buying from outside sources once we have exhausted all other options. By giving consumers a local product that is raised and produced in the U.P. we are able to decrease transportation and middle men costs and pass these savings on to the consumer.

Our beef is available for sale and is sold by the hanging weight.  See Buying Your Beef for more details. Please contact us for an updated price list.

Because we grow our beef right, production is limited.

Do I need a freezer?

Yes. You will need at least 8 cubic feet of freezer space for a side (half) of beef or 4 cubic feet for a quarter. One cubic foot of freezer space will hold about 30 lbs of frozen meat.
